Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 10, 2026

We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use the Intent mobile application and related services (the “App”).

By using the App, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, discontinue use and delete the App. This policy should be read with our Terms of Service and Subscription Terms.

Important disclaimers

Intent is a self-help and habit-tracking application for screen-time awareness and focus goals. It is not a healthcare service, medical device, therapy, or counseling. We do not provide medical advice or create a doctor–patient relationship. We do not create, receive, maintain, or transmit Protected Health Information (PHI) under HIPAA. Information you enter is used only to provide App functionality. If you need professional help for mental health or addiction, please consult a qualified healthcare professional.

1. Information we collect

We collect only what is necessary to deliver the App, personalization, and improvements.

1.1 Information you provide

Account: When you create an account we may collect email, name, and sign-in dates (e.g. via Apple or Google).

Profile and preferences: You may provide goal text, timeline, daily limits, block schedules, and similar settings. This is optional to the extent the App allows.

Usage and logs: You may generate screen-time events, app usage data, and logs that we store to provide limits, shields, insights, and reports. We do not independently verify the accuracy of this data.

Payment: Subscriptions are processed by the Apple App Store, Google Play, or other payment providers. We do not store full payment credentials; those providers handle payment data under their own policies.

1.2 Automatically collected information

We may collect device type, OS version, app version, identifiers permitted by the platform, IP address, and crash or diagnostics data. We may collect usage and analytics data (features used, session duration, performance) to improve the App. Analytics may be processed by third-party tools (e.g. Firebase); we use this only for product improvement.

We may request permissions such as push notifications when needed. We do not access contacts, microphone, or precise location unless you explicitly enable a feature that requires it.

2. How we use information

We use collected information to: provide and maintain the App; enforce limits and block screens; personalize messages and insights; improve performance and reliability; communicate updates or support; process subscriptions; detect fraud or abuse; enforce our Terms; and comply with legal obligations.

3. Legal basis (EEA and UK)

Where GDPR applies, we process personal data on the basis of: performance of a contract (providing the App); legitimate interests (security, analytics, product improvement); consent where required for optional features; and legal obligations.

4. Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with: service providers that help us operate the App (hosting, analytics, payment processing), under contracts that protect your information; and law enforcement or others when required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect safety. If we undergo a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the successor; they will be required to handle it consistently with this policy or provide notice of changes.

5. Data security

We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, access controls, secure infrastructure) to protect your information. No system is completely secure; you should protect your credentials and notify us of suspected unauthorized access.

6. Data retention

We retain information only as long as needed to provide the App, maintain accounts, and comply with legal obligations. After you delete your account or request deletion, we will delete or anonymize your data within a reasonable time, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate purposes (e.g. disputes, fraud prevention).

7. Cookies and tracking

The App and our website may use cookies, mobile identifiers, or similar technologies for functionality and analytics. We do not use your goal or usage data for advertising profiling. You may manage some preferences via your device settings.

8. Your rights

Depending on your location (e.g. EEA, UK, California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your data, or to data portability. You may exercise these by contacting us (e.g. in-app support or at itsintent.app). We may need to verify your identity. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. Certain data may be retained where necessary for the App, legal compliance, or safety.

9. International transfers

Information may be processed or stored outside your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses) for such transfers.

10. Automated processing

The App may use automated systems to generate insights, block-screen messages, or analytics from data you provide. These are for product functionality only and do not constitute professional or medical evaluation. You control what you enter and may delete it.

11. Age restrictions

The App is intended for users at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from younger users. If we learn an account does not meet age requirements, we may suspend or terminate it and delete associated data where appropriate.

12. Third-party services

Links or integrations to third-party services are governed by their own privacy policies. This policy does not apply to them.

13. Account deletion

You may delete your account through the App or by contacting us. Deletion will remove personal data associated with the account except where we must retain it by law.

14. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes may be communicated in the App, by email, or by posting an updated policy. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance.

15. Contact

For questions about this Privacy Policy or your privacy rights, contact us through the app (Settings → Give Feedback / Report a Bug) or at itsintent.app.
